The U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Association (USKZBA) congratulates incumbent President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his victory in Kazakhstan’s historic presidential election held yesterday, June 9. Official preliminary results show that President Tokayev received 70.76% of the votes cast.

The First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, set a strong course for the country, including building an enhanced strategic partnership with the United States. Kazakhstan has been a reliable and trusted partner for American investors and businesses since independence and the USKZBA is confident that this relationship will only continue to grow under President Tokayev’s leadership.

Sarah Nickel, Executive Director of the USKZBA added, “President Tokayev has a long record of supporting economic growth and reforms necessary for business to thrive in Kazakhstan. His election and the continuation of important policy initiatives such as the Astana International Financial Center are a strong sign to investors and companies operating in Kazakhstan that the government remains committed to the country’s continued development, prosperity and international partnerships.”

The U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Association is an independent, non-profit organization that promotes U.S. economic and commercial cooperation with Kazakhstan. Since 1999, USKZBA has engaged industry leaders and policymakers from the United States and Kazakhstan to foster a positive business and investment climate in Kazakhstan, one which enables companies to be productive and the country to grow and prosper.
